Eaton Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) - FAZ6 Series
The FAZ6 series of miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) from Eatons xEffect range has a current limiting design providing fast short-circuit interruption that reduces the let-through electrical energy and overload currents that can damage the circuit.
Ideally suited to control circuits and electrical distribution boards the FAZ6 series of MCBs offer a wide range of diverse protection characteristics, protecting your electrical equipment against overload damage. For additional safety, the MCB breaker cannot be defeated by holding the handle in the ON position, these MCBs are also finger proof and have a trip-free mechanism.
These MCBs have both a thermal and electromagnetic release, with rated currents of 0.5 A up to 63 A and a switching capacity of 6kA or 10kA depending on the device type. A guide for secure terminal connection and a 3-position DIN-rail simplify the installation of the circuit breaker.
The FAZ series includes miniature circuit breakers, interlocks, busbars and snap-on accessories including auxiliaries and tripping modules.
Features and Benefits
Thermal-magnetic overcurrent protection
Power to the miniature circuit breakers can be fed from the line or load side
Clear indication of contact position via front switch toggle
Easy installation on DIN rail. MCB module width of only 17.5 mm (per pole)
Six levels of short-circuit protection, categorized by Type B, C, D, K, S and Z curves
Small modular width of the device and accessories saves space in the panel or equipment, which can lead to cost savings
Available in single pole up to 4 pole
Dual rating for IEC 60947-2 standard
MCB Module widths: 1P 17.5mm, 2P 35mm and 3P 52.5mm
Standards
IEC 898; BS/EN60-898; EN50 022/DIN46277-3 (BS5584).
FAZ-C*/* & FAZ-S*/* = IEC/EN60947-2
IEC 60947-2 Relates to Low Voltage Circuit Breakers for use in industrial and similar installations. In the UK these are traditionally known as miniature circuit breakers (MCBs), moulded case circuit breakers
(MCCBs) and also air circuit breakers (ACBs).
What are the differences between the Tripping Curves?
Type B: Instantaneous trip when the electrical current through the device is 3 to 5 times the rated current. The type B trip curve MCBs are designed for standard circuit protection, typically protection of generators, persons and very long cables
Type C: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 5 to 10 times the rated current.
Type C trip curve residential and domestic MCBs are used for higher inrush currents such as in machines and lighting, providing overload protection of circuits and other consumer units.
Type D: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 10 to 14 times the rated current.
D curve MCBs are suitable for inductive and capacitive loads like transformers condensers. and electric motors.
Type K: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 10 to 14 times the rated current.
Type K curve MCBs are suitable for inductive loads like transformers, condensers. and electric motors.
Type S: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 13 to 17 times the rated current.
Suitable for applications where high levels of inrush current are expected. The high magnetic trip point of type S curve MCBs prevents nuisance tripping in high inductive applications such as motors, transformers and power supplies.
Type Z: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 2 to 3 times the rated current.
Z curve MCBs are intended for use in electrical circuits that require a very low short circuit trip setting, for example, semiconductors.
