Product details

RS PRO Three & Five-Flute HSS Countersink Drill Bits

RS PRO range of three and five flute high sped steel (HSS) countersink drill bits that conform to DIN 335/C standard.

Features and Benefits:

90° flutes for use with machines and portable tools
Reduced clogging
Improve clearance
Chatter free operation - less mechanical vibration
Cost effective and efficient
Made from HSS – this type of steel can withstand increases in temperature without losing its temper (hardness), allowing the steel to cut faster than high carbon steel

Typical Applications:

Countersink cutter drill bits are designed to fit directly into manual, electric and cordless drill driver attachments and have hexagonal or round shanks. Countersink cutters are used to create a chamfer around the rim of a pilot hole enabling the head of a countersunk screw to sit flush. Countersink cutters can also be used to remove the burr left from a drilling or tapping operation.
The HSS Countersinks are ideal working on metal and wood applications, offering a cost-effective solution with high performance and durability. Their applications include:
Power drills
Robot applications
Stationary machines
Column drills
Machine tools

FAQs
When should you countersink?
Countersinking is done to ensure that flat head screws sit flush to the work piece. A countersink produces a conical hole matching the angle of the screw so that when the screw is fully engaged the head will sit flush or slightly below the surface. If you do not countersink the hole first, the screw may tear the fibres of the material leaving you with a rough work surface.
