Adafruit Feather 32u4 FONA Board
The Adafruit Feather 32u4 FONA has all the basic features shared by all the Feather 32u4 range together with built-in mobile communication. The FONA800 module is a quad band for 2G mobile communication anywhere in the world. Whether you want to send data, SMS or make phone calls you can with the Feather FONA. Perfect for remote monitoring projects.
A LiPo battery with at least 500 mAh (RS 791-6460 or similar) is required for use. This helps to ensure that the cellular module is powered during high current spikes.
- Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900MHz - connect onto any global GSM network with any 2G SIM (in the USA, T-Mobile is suggested)
- Make and receive voice calls using an external 8 Ω speaker and electret microphone
- Send and receive SMS messages and GPRS data (TCP/IP, HTTP)
- Scan and receive FM radio
- AT command interface with "auto baud" detection
- Pair-able Bluetooth client interface with SPP (for controlling the module) and audio.
Suggested Accessories
Some required accessories to make Feather FONA work, in particular a 2G SIM card. These are not included.

Adafruit Feather 32u4 Development Boards
The Feather 32u4 is a range of development boards from Adafruit. They are powered by the Atmel ATmega32u4 microcontroller clocked at 8 MHz with 3.3 V logic. This chip has 32K of flash and 2K of RAM and built-in USB. As a result it has a USB-to-Serial programme and debug capability built in and it can also act like a mouse, keyboard, USB MIDI device.
This chip is supported in the Arduino IDE and can run nearly every sensor/library available.
The Feather is perfect for small or portable projects. There is a connector for 3.7 V Lithium polymer batteries and built-in battery charging circuit which you can use to measure and monitor battery levels. Lithium Polymer battery and USB cable not included.
Supplied fully assembled and tested, with a USB bootloader that lets you quickly use it with the Arduino IDE.
